The Janata Dal United-Rashtriya Janata Dal-Congress Mahagathbandhan on Wednesday announced its list of 242 candidates for the five-phase Bihar Assembly elections. The candidate for Rajgir which will be contested by the JDU is yet to be announced.
Keeping their vote bank in mind, the Mahagathbandhan list has 56% candidates from the other backward castes, 16% Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, 16% forward castes and 14% Muslims.
The list once again revealed that caste continues to play a major role in the political arena of Bihar.
