Centre likely to go ahead with Telangana Bill in Parliament session
The Centre is likely to present the Telangana Bill in Parliament even if the Andhra Assembly does not pass the resolution.

New Delhi: The Centre is unlikely to wait for the Andhra Pradesh Assembly to clear the Telangana Bill. According to high level sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Centre is likely to present the Telangana Bill in Parliament even if the Andhra Assembly does not pass the resolution.

It is likely that Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will return the draft to the President without a 'yes' or 'no' from the Assembly. The Speaker is likely to just encapsulate what MLAs spoke on the Bill in the state Assembly.

President Pranab Mukherjee will then have to forward the Speaker's note and the draft bill to the Home Ministry.

The Home Ministry is preparing to bring a Cabinet note on February 7 seeking to present the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill before Parliament.

Meanwhile, Andhra Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has requested the President to give three more weeks to debate the Bill in the Assembly. The deadline expires on January 30.
