Cong seeks action against Kumaraswamy for calling candidate 'murderer'
Calling Kumaraswamy's act violation of model code of conduct, the Congress requested the EC to act against him.

Bangalore: The Congress on Tuesday petitioned Election Commission to take action against former chief minister and state JDS chief HD Kumaraswamy for using "defamatory language" against its nominee from Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituency DK Suresh.

Suresh is the sitting MP and brother of Energy Minister DK Shivakumar, arch rival of Kumaraswamy, who is contesting the April 17 Lok Sabha polls from Chikkaballapur constituency.

Congress unit of Ramanagara district in a letter to the commission alleged that Kumaraswamy had addressed Suresh as "murderer" and "granite thief" at a JDS workers meet at Ramanagara on March 22.

Calling the act of Kumaraswamy clear violation of model code of conduct, the party requested the Commission to take action against him for it.
