Thiruvananthapuram: Congress-led UDF in Kerala on Friday termed CPM's decision to go to polls under Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan reversing its earlier decision not to field him as a "drama" plotted and enacted by
the party to "bluff" people.
"This is a drama being enacted by the party. But the voters know that and would not be carried away by it," KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala said. "This development, however, showed the degeneration of the CPM, organisationally and ideologically," he said.
"Whether Achuthanandan will or will not lead the LDF again is not at all an issue for us. We are fighting the policies of the LDF and the total failure of the government in the last five years," said Oommen Chandy, opposition leader in the state assembly and UDF's Chief Ministerial probable.
Such "gimmicks and play-acting" were not going to bring votes for the LDF as people in the state had decided for a change, Chandy said.
