Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC and KCR’s daughter K Kavitha will skip the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summon on Monday concerning the Delhi excise policy case.
In her letter to the central agency, Kavitha cited that she has multiple “pressing” public engagements and a petition pending in the Supreme Court to attend to on the same day.
“In the light of my pressing onerous engagements coupled with my commitment to the people of my State and taking into consideration the necessity of my presence in my State while the parliamentary elections are underway, your good self may consider keeping such Notice in abeyance,” the letter read.
The BRS leader further said that she is ready to provide information or face interrogation regarding the case in virtual mode.
“However, should your good-self require me to answer any queries or questions or to seek any information from me, I shall be always available to appear before your good- self through any virtual mode, the details, particulars and timings whereof may be sent to me in advance,” she stated in the letter.
The probe agency issued a summon to Kavitha, asking her to appear before it on February 26 in connection with its probe into the Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
This is the second time the BRS leader is skipping summons for questioning. She was questioned last by the Central agency in December 2022.
The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that one of the accused in the case Vijay Nair received kickbacks to the tune of at least Rs 100 crore from a group called South Group, which was allegedly controlled by Sarath Reddy, Kavitha and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy on behalf of leaders of the AAP.
