Tamil Nadu: Actor-turned-politician DMDK chief Vijaykanth is likely to have alliance with the DMK ahead of the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
Sources said, the possible DMDK-DMK alliance came after Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar met Vijaykanth at his residence in Chennai on February 28.
Asked if Vijayakanth had given any commitment on joining hands with BJP for the polls, Javadekar had said, "We are already NDA (constituents), we will tell you everything next week."
However, DMDK described the meeting as a 'courtesy call' but Javadekar had said, "Let me tell you again, I am meeting all NDA colleagues."
After the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Vaiko-led MDMK, PMK and later DMDK snapped ties with BJP one after the other, though the saffron party still maintains that the DMDK was with them.
There are reports that DMK has been carrying out back-channel talks with Vijaykanth through a businessmen in the city for the alliance.
