Goa: Former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Nitin Gadkari is likely to get a new role in the party. Sources said on Sunday that Gadkari is likely to be appointed as the manifesto panel head for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The announcement, however, is unlikely to be made on Sunday, said the sources.
On Saturday, there were reportedly demands within the party to appoint Gadkari as the election management committee head for the upcoming five state assembly elections but he refused. Gadkari had earlier also turned down the offer.
Meanwhile, sources have said that BJP President Rajnath Singh is likely to make the announcement on Narendra Modi's elevation as party's campaign committee chief for the 2014 elections on Sunday. The sources also said that Rajnath along with Modi will travel to Delhi on Sunday evening or Monday to meet senior BJP leader LK Advani, who has skipped the BJP National Executive in Goa citing health concerns. It is speculated that Advani gave a miss to the meeting as he opposed to the elevation of Modi.
