Sirsa: Haryana Assembly elections are no different from any other state elections as local issues dominate the agenda of all political parties.
Hisar constituency in Haryana is basically a swath of unplanned urban growth. An overpopulated city, congestion in Hisar has increased in the past few years as more people find its location and connectivity attractive.
Overpopulation and congestion has led to long and unending traffic jams in Hisar. "There is no proper plan to regulate the smooth vehicular movement in the area. We are tired of these chaotic traffic jams. So far the government has not done anything to resolve this issue," Anil Gupta, a resident of Hisar, said.
The story is no different in Sirsa. Bad road conditions lead to chaotic traffic jams and several accidents.
"Sirsa is home to several bad roads. Many of the city's roads are in serious need of repair but the the government is not bothered. We have raised this issue several times but nothing has changed. No action is taken against the contractors for not doing their job properly," Harpal Singh from Sirsa said.
In a public meeting in Sirsa, BJP candidate Sunita Setia laid stress on the poor condition of roads and pledged to resolve this issue if she wins.
Adampur constituency, too, is lagging behind in terms of development. Even basic necessities are a distant dream for the people of Adampur. A large part of Adampur constituency is still deprived of basic amenities such as clean drinking water, electricity, education and power supply.
Kamla Devi, a resident of Adampur said, "All these political leaders make false promises. This time I will vote for a leader who can resolve the basic issues of the area. Lack of drinking water and power supply are the main concerns of this area."
BJP candidate Karan Singh Ranauliya said civic issues including water supply, sanitation and education are the election top agenda.
