How will I take on Modi with just 4 MPs: Mulayam to Akhilesh

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav pulled up his son and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for the party's poor electoral performance on Friday. Today was the second day of the Samajwadi Party's meeting to evaluate poll rout.

Mulayam asked why the party only managed to get four seats while other chief ministers like Mamata Banerjee, Naveen Patnaik and J Jayalalithaa did well.

Mulayam said, "How will I take on Modi with just 5 MPs. Dimple and Akshay are too new, so it will left to me and Dharmendra."

On Thursday, the state unit of the party was dissolved although Akhilesh was allowed to stay on as the state unit President.

The SP has won only five seats in the Lok Sabha elections whereas it won 23 seats in 2009 general elections. Among the five seats, Mulayam alone got two seats -- Mainpuri and Azamgarh. Rest three were Kannauj, Badaun and Firozabad clinched by his daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav and nephews Dharmendra Yadav and Akshay Yadav respectively.
