New Delhi: A Karnataka Lokayukta Court will hear the first of two cases against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and his family on Wednesday in the illegal denotification of government land case. The Lokayukta police had submitted an investigative report earlier this month. Yeddyurappa and five others including his sons and son-in-law have been accused of irregularities in denotifying government land in Bangalore.

Earlier, Yeddyurappa hit out at the Lokayukta for the report on illegal mining which led to his resignation four months ago and asserted that all charges "made against me are baseless". "Lokayukta has levelled charges against me, but has not taken action against officials who are corrupt and acted in partisan manner. All charges are baseless and I will fight it out and prove my innocence," he told his supporters at his home town Shikaripura.

This was his first visit to the town after his release on bail on November 8, at the end of 25-day jail stay in connection with alleged irregularities in denotification of government land.
