LS polls: AAP's 10-day 'Jhadoo Chalao Yatra' to begin on Saturday

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party will once again start its 'Jhadoo Chalao Yatra' from February 15 to 24. After its membership drive, the yatra is to mobilise support ahead of the Lok Sabha elections by raising issues of corruption and dynasty rule.

The AAP had earlier conducted a similar yatra ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections in November 2013. The 21-day yatra proved to be a successful one as the party won 28 seats in the 70-member House.

AAP leader Gopal Rai said, "The yatra is not leader based but volunteer based wherein volunteers will meet people and create awareness about the party. It will be a consolidated programme wherein group meeting will be held at different levels."

The yatra will be held all over India with a motive to bring party workers together and with an aim to ensure corrupt MPs are defeated in elections.

Rai said, "A central co-ordination team has been formed to look over the yatra. So far, more than 2000 teams have been formed."

He added that even people not a part of the team can conduct the yatra but they must be able to bring 10-20 people. Rai said, "The AAP is confident that many more will join the yarta and make it a successful one."

After reviewing the yatra, the AAP may take another yatra in March.

The AAP is making its debut on the national platform and will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
