Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday stressed the need for a strong and stable government in India amid an increasingly volatile world marked by several conflicts and wars. During the release of BJP’s election manifesto here, Modi also vowed to prioritise the safety of Indian nationals living abroad.

Delivering an address at the BJP headquarters in the national capital ahead of general elections, Modi said, “As the world reels under the clouds of uncertainty in the wake of global tensions and wars, the security of Indians living abroad — during these difficult times — is our priority.” “The need for a strong, stable, and a majority government (in India) increases manifold during such tough times,” he added.

‘Bharat First Foreign Policy’

This remark comes as BJP today released Sankalp Patra, which provides a comprehensive overview of the NDA Government’s achievements and charts the vision for building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who attended the launch of the party manifesto, said, “In the foreign policy domain, we reaffirm our commitment to following a Bharat First Foreign Policy. #ModiKiGuarantee for #VishwaBandhuBharat will keep delivering.”

The party manifesto also highlighted that the BJP government has successfully brought Bharat from a fragile 5 to the top 5 economies despite the global turmoil and once-in-a-century event Covid pandemic. “We have strengthened our financial system, maintained fiscal prudence, and increased our foreign exchange reserves

“We have successfully shielded our citizens from global price shocks and created a conducive environment for economic growth. Our policies have resulted in Bharat becoming the 5th largest economy. We will build upon this foundation in the next five years to launch our country on the path to Viksit Bharat by 2047,” it read.

Becoming a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is another commitment that BJP has made in its election manifesto. “We are committed to seeking permanent membership in the UN Security Council to elevate Bharat’s position in global decision-making,” the manifesto read.

Not just this, the party said that efforts will continue to create a consensus among all members of the United Nations on the Comprehensive Convention against International Terrorism and other such efforts to combat the phenomenon. “We will build upon the success of the ‘No Money for Terror’ conference to develop better coordination on countering terrorism financing,” it read.
