President Rule in Delhi: SC seeks Centre's reponse over AAP petition
The Centre has to reply within 4 weeks that whether the decision was a correct call or immediate election should have been called for.

New Delhi: In a relief to the Aam Aadmi Party, the Supreme Court on Monday sought response from the Centre over keeping the Delhi Assembly in suspended animation and imposition of President's Rule. The Centre has to reply within four weeks that whether the decision was a correct call or immediate election should have been called for.

While refraining from issuing notice to Congress and BJP, the Supreme Court called it only a constitutional issue and the bench did not want it to be a political contest.

AAP had moved the apex court and raised questions about keeping the assembly under suspended animation by ignoring the categorical recommendation of the majority government of the NCT of Delhi for dissolving the House. The joint petition was filed on the basis of newspaper reports and documents available in public domain by AAP and Saurabh Bhardwaj, who was the Transport Minister in Kejriwal Cabinet.

AAP has also challenged decision to impose President's rule in Delhi on the recommendation of the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung alleging it was done to protect Congress leaders and former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit from corruption charges.
