New Delhi: After weeks of deliberations, the Bharatiya Janata Party and Telugu Desam Party have finalised their pre-poll alliance.
The TDP is likely to cede 8 Lok Sabha seats to the BJP in Telangana and 5-6 seats in Seemandhra. Both the parties are, however, facing internal resistance.
TDP workers are holding protests outside party chief N Chandrababu Naidu's residence while the Andhra BJP's district heads have submitted a memorandum opposing the alliance.
There was high drama in the BJP office as presidents of its Telangana district unit strongly opposed the electoral tie-up with TDP and threatened to resign from the party.
Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy and senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya tried to pacify them but the district presidents staged a protest at a star hotel where senior leader Prakash Javadekar was staying.
