New Delhi: While the issue of a memorial for late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray at Mumbai's Shivaji Park is yet to be decided, party activists in Chandrapur district have announced that they will build a temple in the memory of their departed leader in Bhadrawati. The temple will be built on five acres of land and at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore.

Shiv Sena has been ruling Bhadrawati city council for the last 10 years. So the party is assured of the city council administration in its effort to build a temple for Bal Thackeray.

On the other hand the Maharashtra government and the Shiv Sena are at loggerheads over Thackeray’s proposed memorial. Shiv Sena leaders say that if a memorial is not possible at Shivaji Park, at least a monument should be constructed at the site.

As Shivaji Park is a very well know playground in Mumbai, so the government has till now not given the permission to built Thackeray’s memorial. But Shiv Sena leaders are adamant Bal Thackeray's memorial should be built at Shivaji Park. Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi demanded that the Bal Thackeray memorial be built around Shivaji's memorial at the park.

Meanwhile, the Prithviraj Chauhan Government had taken a tough stance on Joshi’s statement. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chauhan indicated that Joshi's statement on the memorial site will be examined to see if it violated the law or not.

While Bal Thackeray’s son Uddhav is silent on the issue, but the Shiv Sena has been taking an aggressive stand on the memorial. They have demanded that Bal Thackeray’s memorial should be built at Shivaji Park where the he addressed rallies annually during the Dusherra festival for more than four and half decades.
