Madurai: The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Tuesday granted to bail to M Natarajan, husband of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's aide Sasikala in one of the five land grabbing cases filed against him.
Justice RS Ramanathan gave the order on a bail petition by Natarajan, who was arrested on February 19.
He was arrested on a complaint by one Vilar Ramalingam, who alleged that three persons at the instigation of Natarajan and his brother had grabbed his 15,000 square feet of land, where he proposed to construct a monument in memory of Lankan Tamils who died in 2009 in the war in the island nation.
Natarajan was founder trustee of World Tamil Federation, which was constructing the monument. Though he obtained bail in this connection, he was in jail as four other cases were registered against him on different dates.
Police had registered a case against him on a complaint from one Vincent Albert of Thanjavur, who alleged Natarajan and his three associates had grabbed his and worth Rs 1.25 crore and paid him only Rs 20 lakh and threatened him and his family members. Hence he filed the present petition.
Natarajan is presently lodged at Tiruchirapalli Central Prison.
