New Delhi: In fresh clashes between Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party workers in Hardoi one person died and five were injured on Saturday. Several instances of violence have been reported till now in Uttar Pradesh after Mulayam Singh Yadav's party swept the Assembly polls last week.
Eight people were later arrested including a former gram pradhan. The former Gram Pradhan is said to be affiliated with the Samajwadi Party.
The local administration was directed to take strict action against the guilty.
In Sambhal, a seven-year-old boy died in firing on Tuesday while the Samajwadi Party workers pelted stones at media in Jhansi during counting.
Violence broke out on Wednesday night outside an independent candidate's house in Sitapur area after alleged Samajwadi Party workers tried to set a MPs and 13 other houses on fire. Samajwadi Party workers also beat up media, broke cameras in Firozabad.
Samajwadi Party leader and touted to be the next chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav at a press conference on Friday condemned the post-poll violence in the state.
Akhilesh had assured that strict action would be taken against those involved in the cases.
So far three people have died in Uttar Pradesh in poll related violence.
