Kolkata: West Bengal government and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation may challenge the single bench order of Calcutta High Court which has impose conditions on the proposed BJP rally in Kolkata.
The KMC and state fire department who were asked by the court to depute special officers to workout the statuary modalities for the rally, approached the Chief Justice's bench for an appeal against the order. The the chief justice of Calcutta High Court may hear the petition at her residence on Saturday since the court will remain closed.
A single bench of Calcutta High Court had appointed two special officers from the KMC and West Bengal fire services department to take the final call on Saturday about the compliance norms for the proposed BJP rally by its national president Amit Shah on Sunday.
The special officers would be assisted by a senior officer of Kolkata police and are supposed to meet at 10.30 am Saturday to fix the conditions for holding the proposed public meeting.
The court has also directed the BJP to have technical experts to carry out the compliance order of the special officers. The court has relaxed the municipal norm of leaving 20 feet open space in front of the stage on grounds of reasonable logistics.
