Apple iPhone 13 Pro Models' Cameras May Feature Sensor-Shift Stabilisation Tech for Sharper Images
Earlier, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had said that the ultra-wide cameras on the two high-end iPhone 13 models will be significantly improved to f/1.8, 6P (six-element lens) with autofocus.

Apple will reportedly include sensor-shift image stabilisation and autofocus camera capabilities on the next iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The Cupertino-based tech giant had introduced the sensor-shift optical image stabilisation for the Wide camera lens on the iPhone 12 Pro Max for the first time. This imaging technology essentially moves the sensor instead of the lens for a sharper image with better quality. It can also lead to improved low-light photography as the bigger sensor can now handle light better. During the launch of the iPhone 12 Pro Max in October 2020, Apple claimed that the sensor-shift image stabilisation tech is capable of stabilising an image at more than 5,000 times per second.

The latest leak comes from DigiTimes citing industry sources. The report adds that Apple would include the sensor-shift OIS for both the Wide and Ultra-Wide lens on the ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro and ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro Max. Additionally, the Wide-angle camera will reportedly include autofocus. It was also rumoured that Apple would bring the Wide lens with sensor-shift OIS to the remaining models in the iPhone 13 lineup. Earlier in November, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the next iPhone Pro and Pro Max models would see improved Ultra-Wide cameras. Kuo had stated that the Ultra-Wide cameras on the two high-end iPhone 13 models would be improved to f/1.8, 6P (six-element lens) with autofocus, as against the iPhone 12’s f/2.4, 5P (five-element lens) Ultra-Wide shooters with fixed focus.

Apart from the hardware, the company has also added support for ProRAW which is a RAW file captured by the camera but with all the tonal adjustments applied and without losing any other details. Overall, with hardware and software tweaks, Apple appears to bring significant changes to the cameras on iPhone 13 Pro models. Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly planning to add a 1TB storage variant in the next iPhone lineup. At the moment, there are very few smartphone makers that provide 1TB onboard storage on their phones.
