Facebook has announced new features for its live video broadcasting service.
The key highlight, among other improvements, is that users will now be able to broadcast up to four hours of video per session. Earlier, the limit on Facebook Live was set to two hours.
In addition to this, users will also have access to the video-only mode, which temporarily hides comments and other reactions.
Users can switch on the video-only mode just by swiping right. Reactions and comments can be brought back by swiping left.
In other words, the new update will allow users to go live in full screen. While iOS users will be able to go live in full screen in both portrait and landscape modes, Android users don't have the same privilege.
Android devices, for now, only support full screen in portrait mode, but Facebook plans to provide support for the landscape orientation on Android later this year, says an Engadget report.Live video is becoming a highly competitive feature on social platforms, with companies competing to stream various events.Facebook Live, which offers streaming video in real time, was launched last year. It recently added features, including a map of video streams around the world, expanded search and filters that echo those on other platforms.
A few weeks ago, Facebook announced that users can go live from the face-swapping MSQRD app and utilise different Snapchat-like masks and filters while the video is running. Facebook had acquired Masquerade, the Belarusian startup behind MSQRD, back in March.(With inputs from Agencies)
