Google’s AI revolution picks up pace across corners. The company has launched Gemini AI in three versions that works on large machines, smartphones and more. But the biggest change from Google could signal the end of Assistant on your phone and bring Bard to the forefront in the near future.
That’s right, Bard could become the de-facto AI assistant on phones replacing the old Google Assistant for good. The details of these changes come via 9to5Google which has spotted the new rebranding in an app that has been uploaded on the Play Store.
Just a few weeks back, you were able to see Assistant written on the app and even in the intro message for users. But the report states that the latest update to the same app now shows Bard separately with no sign of Assistant anywhere in the code trail. Knowing Google and its habits, it is likely that Assistant is now giving way to Bard as the company looks for an AI overhaul of its assistant on phones.
Does this mean Google is ready to give up Assistant in favour of just Bard from here on? The company hasn’t officially talked about these changes, at least for now, so we would rather wait for Google to confirm the rebranding and also see if any new AI feature makes its way to the consumers.
One would say that with the ever-evolving ChatGPT now working on Android phones, it was inevitable that Google looked at the assistant with a new approach. Bard is probably the right direction to move in for Google and let its AI-centric plans take shape.
The company has already decided to remove around 20 features from the Assistant which hints at something brewing behind the scenes at Google and the latest findings give it further credibility. For all you know, Hey Bard, might soon become the wake word for Android users who want to activate the AI-powered assistant.
