New Delhi: Google is reportedly testing a service that lets businesses listed in its search results to have live chat with users.
The feature shows whether a business is currently available and immediately launches the chat via Google Hangouts. The service resembles Path Talk's direct messaging platform with local businesses that also gives details including price level, address, map location, phone number, opening hours, ratings and reviews.
A Google spokesperson said that it is an experimental feature that the company is testing, which offers a direct text-based line of communication, TechCrunch reported.
For example, a user can have a live chat with a restaurant representative and ask about table availability or pose menu-specific queries to which the feedback would be instantaneous.
A feature like this, if made live, will be of a great benefit to businesses as messaging is of extreme importance to businesses these days and Google could explore more in this zone.
