OnePlus 2: 5 things we know so far about the OnePlus One successor launching on July 27

New Delhi: OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, which has the successful OnePlus One to its credit, recently announced that it is going to unveil the successor to its flagship smartphone on July 27.

While the company hasn’t revealed much about the anticipated device other than a few details, the rumour mill has been buzzing with features that the OnePlus 2 could come packed with. Here is all that we know so far about the upcoming OnePlus 2 smartphone.

1. USB Type-C

One of the official details about the features of OnePlus 2 is that it will come with the new type of USB port, the USB Type-C, for charging, data transfer, and external output. This type of USB was first introduced by Apple in its latest MacBook and later another Chinese manufacturer that goes by the name LeTv injected it in its debut smartphones. The company announced the new feature on Twitter and said that OnePlus 2 will be the first-ever smartphone by OnePlus to come with the reversible port.

2. Processor/ Display

OnePlus 2 will come with a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor combines with a 4GB RAM. It is expected to run the Android Lollipop with OnePlus’ Oxygen OS on top. The phone will sport a quad HD display.

3. Fingerprint sensor

Following Apple’s footsteps, a lot of smartphone manufacturers introduced their devices with fingerprint sensing ability for faster unlocking of devices and more security. The OnePlus 2 will also come with a fingerprint sensor and will allow you to store up to five fingerprint profiles.

4. Launch event

OnePlus 2 will be released on July 27. In a first, OnePlus will be unveiled via the company’s virtual reality headsets. The OnePlus Cardboard, based on the original Google Cardboard, has been priced at Rs 99 and will let everyone around the world stream the product launch at 7:00pm PT (7:30am IST, July 28).

5. Pricing

OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, announced on Twitter that the OnePlus 2 will be priced under $450, which will make the smartphone affordable with the given specs as compared to high-end devices by Samsung, LG, HTC, and others.
