New Delhi: Imagine a day without your smartphone: difficult isn’t it? With so much of technological advancements around us, the reality is often missed.
Appalled by the stark truth of the connected yet unconnected lives we all live, a New York-based photographer, Eric Pickersgill, captured some beautiful yet disturbing moments from the everyday life of the tech savvy modern humans under his project titled- Removed.

The inspiration for his project came when Pickersgill was sitting in a café one morning and observed his surroundings where a family was sitting at a table next to his and despite being one unit, were actually a disconnected group of individuals. The two daughters and the father were busy fiddling with their smartphones while the mother looked outside, a rather saddened expression clouding her face. After a while, the mother too takes out her phone and gets busy.
The series of photographs by Pickersgill are of individuals who appear to be holding personal devices although the devices have been physically removed. The photos are the reenactments of scenes we experience daily. Here are some of the photographs from the project.
