New Delhi: Samsung has announced that it will roll out an update to fix the glitch that did not allow automatic Windows update on its laptops.

As the time for the most awaited Windows 10 draws near, a reverse engineering specialist Patrick Barker discovered that a program called Disable_Windowsupdate.exe that comes pre-installed on Samsung laptops does not allow updates, including important security updates.

The issue impacts those who opt for automatic installation as Samsung’s bundled software disabled them. They have to remember to manually install updates from Microsoft, The Register reports.

To address the loophole, the South Korean electronics giant has promised that it will release a patch for its laptops so that they don’t disable automatic Windows updates.

A company spokeswoman said that Samsung will be issuing a patch through the Samsung Software Update notification process to restore the recommended automatic Windows Update settings within a few days.

This situation is upsetting for Microsoft which is geared up for its Windows 10 release on July 29. The new OS, as acknowledged by the company, is going to be the last Windows version and run further based solely on updates. Samsung’s software glitch could mar the smooth launch of the OS and also puts to risk security of its own systems.
