Twitter adds 'dox' option in abuse-report system that will ask banned users to verify contact info to resume tweeting
Users who have been warned or temporarily banned will be asked to provide either an e-mail address or phone number to return to Twitter.

New Delhi: Pepping up the security on its microblogging plaform, Twitter has announced that its abuse-report system will now include an option for users to report 'doxing' content that intends to collect personal information like name, age, email, address, telephone number, etc. to be able to tweet again.

Twitter's Vice President of User Services Tina Bhatnagar, explained that December's report-process update was met with a 'tripling' of the site's abuse support staff, which has led to a quintupling of abuse report processing.

A report in Ars Technica stated that one of Twitter's new enforcement actions will include a contact-information verification system where users who have been warned or temporarily banned but not permanently suspended will be instructed to provide either an e-mail address or phone number to return to Twitter.

However, the mandatory verficiation will not apply to every warning or temporary ban on users.

This comes after CEO Dick Costolo's internal Twitter forum post was leaked in which he admitted that the service's dealing with abuse and trolls on the site was not good.
