Actress Palak Sindhwani has officially exited Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, citing allegations of exploitation and mental harassment by the show’s producers. Just days after her departure from the popular sitcom, the production team has swiftly cast another actress to take on the role of Sonu Bhide, a character Palak portrayed for five years.
According to an ETimes report, Khushi Mali, best known for her role in Saajha Sindoor, will soon join TMKOC as the new Sonu Bhide. In an interview with the media outlet, the show’s producer, Asit Modi, highlighted the significance of Sonu’s role in the sitcom and said, “Sonu is a vital part of the Tapu Sena, and her presence has always shown leadership and warmth. Casting Khushi Mali was a careful decision, and we believe she perfectly captures these traits. We are excited to welcome Khushi and will fully support her as she brings this character to life. We hope our audience will give her the same love they have shown to the show and its characters for the past 16 years.”
In the meantime, Khushi is thrilled to join the cast of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. She shared her enthusiasm for stepping into the character of Sonu, highlighting the character’s diverse attributes. Further, calling this opportunity a blessing, Khushi stated, “Being a part of Taarak Mehta is a blessing and a great opportunity for me. I look forward to connecting with masses through my role.”
In other news, just days back, Palak wrapped up her shoot for TMKOC. On her last day, she couldn’t help but share a heartwarming post on her social media account, highlighting her 5-year-long journey in the sitcom. Sharing a series of pictures with her co-stars, including Dilip Joshi, Palak wrote, “As I wrap up my last day on set, I reflect on the past five years filled with hard work, dedication, and perseverance. On the other hand, Palak Sindhwani is currently embroiled in a legal case with the show’s makers. The TMKOC team had sent her a legal notice for breaching the contract by working on other projects without any approval. The actress strongly rejected such claims and instead accused them of harassment. She also alleged that the production is yet to pay her dues of Rs 21 lakh and mentioned that she was pressured to work long hours despite being unwell.
