Akasa Air’s initiative garnered praise from numerous social media users. A commenter described it as “A Sensible Step,” while another noted, “After all sustainability is the core value of Akasa.” This comes amid a significant water crisis in the country, with its main reservoirs hitting their lowest March levels in five years, as reported by Reuters, citing government data. World Water Day 2024

World Water Day, observed annually on March 22, serves as a poignant reminder of the critical importance of freshwater resources. This global event sheds light on the theme of each year, its historical background, and its profound significance. Additionally, it highlights the urgent need for water conservation to address pressing global challenges.

This year’s World Water Day campaign focuses on the theme “Water for Peace.” It highlights the reality that scarcity of fresh water frequently leads to conflicts among individuals, communities, and nations. Surprisingly, only 24 out of 153 countries have established water-sharing agreements, as reported by the United Nations (UN). To prevent potential conflicts and ensure access to essential water resources across borders, prioritising water conservation becomes crucial. This initiative is in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, which aims to achieve universal access to water and sanitation by 2030.
