Bengaluru Heist: Thieves Break Windows of Cars, Steal Laptops and Valuables in Broad Daylight
The string of car break-ins on a busy Bengaluru street in broad daylight have raised safety concerns among residents.

Miscreants in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar used a special tool to break into cars parked on a busy street and stole laptops and valuables in broad daylight on August 22. While one thief distracted the guard, the other smashed windows of cars with a special device and quickly made off with their loot. One of the victims, Surya, shared the incident on social media, urging residents to be cautious and calling for a swift police response.

“On August 22, around 7:30 pm, 4 cars were hit on the busy Indiranagar Main 100 ft road near Global Desi store & Westside. Thieves broke windows of all 4 cars, snatched 3 bags with laptops and valuables. I’m one of the victims,” wrote Surya on X.

He added, “CCTV footage shows it all. One guy uses a special device to silently break windows (cops say this is common). Another dude distracts the security guard. They grab bags and dash off – all in plain sight on a crowded street!” while sharing CCTV footages of the area.

“This is not the first time. Apparently, similar thefts have happened in this same lane before. Bengaluru streets are feeling less safe by the day. Bengaluru Police need your swift action! Please investigate and take action to stop these thieves before they strike again,” he urged.

“Everyone, stay alert! Don’t leave valuables visible in your car. Please repost to amplify and raise awareness. Stay safe, Bengaluru!” Surya concluded his post with a warning for Bengaluru residents.

The post, since being shared on August 28, has accumulated over seven lakh views and the numbers are still increasing. Many even flocked to the comments section to share varied thoughts.

Here’s how the Internet reacted to this daylight robbery:

“Bengaluru is getting increasingly unsafe with every passing day,” wrote an individual.

Another advised, “Never leave anything valuable in car, especially in plain sight. It just takes one ceramic piece to crack the window. Hope police take quick action.”

“Unfortunate, but you should have never left your precious belongings in the car, this is a thumb rule, taught even in primary school,” expressed a third.

A fourth questioned, “What is Bengaluru turning into?”

What's your reaction?
