Delhi Rain Mayhem: People Share Dramatic Videos As They Weather The Storm
The national capital received heavy rains on Wednesday, leading to severe waterlogging at many places.

Heavy rains lashed the national capital on Wednesday, leading to waterlogged roads, traffic woes, flooded homes and other struggles for Delhiites. Other areas of the NCR have also experienced thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds. While this brings much-needed relief from the humidity, the heavy spells have dragged the city to a standstill, prompting flight diversions, traffic delays, and the closure of schools and several business establishments. Amid the city’s struggles with incessant rains and heavy congestion, many have taken to social media to share videos of waterlogging and traffic snarls.

A user, while sharing a clip from South Delhi to Ring Road, shared how a few minutes of downpour caused a major traffic blockage.

Another shared a dramatic video from Delhi’s Karol Bagh showing rainwater entering premises while people try to take the shed. “Just 20 mins of rain in Delhi today and look how Karol bagh is already screwed,” the caption read.

People around New Friends Colony were seen wading through ankle-deep water following heavy rains. “One hour of medium rain and A Grade Colony paying the highest slab of property tax gets flooded due to neglect, bad management, choked rainwater drains,” a user wrote.

A frustrated commuter shared several clips from the waterlogged city and spoke about hours of congestion. “Travelled to Delhi for some urgent work. Hours on road in #Waterlogging traffic. Reached home 12.20. Life disrupted at #Gurugram School declared holiday. Kids jumping,” the caption read.

A video showed the leaking ceiling from inside the new Parliament building due to heavy rains.

IMD Issues Red Alert For Delhi

Following the heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the national capital until 9 PM. While schools remain closed, residents have been asked to stay indoors, keep their homes secure, and avoid unnecessary travel.

The weather also disrupted air traffic, causing several delays and diverting others.
