Creating Instagram reels has become a universal aspiration, particularly during special occasions. The trend has escalated to a point where everyone, regardless of how unnecessary or peculiar it may seem, eagerly participates simply because it’s the thing to do. This fervour was epitomised by a Desi groom who made a valiant attempt to create a reel during his wedding ceremony. As he and his bride sat amidst their relatives, all eyes fixed oddly on the camera, little did they know their efforts would soon become a viral sensation for all the right comedic reasons.
Resurfacing on ‘X’, the video kicks off with the groom (identified as Raja Babu, who runs a YouTube channel called ‘Raja Vlogs’) channelling his inner local actor, earnestly applying sindoor to his bride while flawlessly lip-syncing to the tune of ‘Do Anjaane Ajnabi’ from the movie ‘Vivah’. With exaggerated expressions and an unwavering gaze into the lens, the groom’s commitment is palpable, even as the bride struggles to maintain her composure.

The camera then shifts its focus exclusively to the groom, ensconced among his relatives, including a lady in a vibrant ensemble enthusiastically clapping along as if she were at a spiritual gathering, accompanied by a young girl attempting to match his level of enthusiasm but falling short.
The result? An uproarious spectacle that effortlessly captivates audiences, leaving them in stitches.

Comments on ‘X’ mirrored the collective sentiment, with one user playfully lamenting, “God save my country from reels,” while another pointed out, “The bride has a w/t/f expression, while the lady in red standing behind the groom is clapping along as if she’s in a satsang. The guy’s a pro, though.” Yet the third commenter hilariously inquired, “Genuine question: who is he hurting?”
Adding to the humour, a fourth commenter pleads, “Dear Almighty, please grant us the strength to resist the allure of endless reels and the wisdom to know when to stop scrolling. Our country’s attention span depends on it!”
