Ex-Infosys Techie Says He Fell Victim to 'Silent Layoff' But People Are Doubting His Viral LinkedIn Post

A former Infosys employee recently took to LinkedIn to share his frustration, claiming that he was a ‘victim’ of silent layoff in the company and was let go from the company without warning or support for his future career. Kumar Shubman, the employee in question, outlined the events leading up to his dismissal

“Within [a] few hours my whole internal access [was] taken after forcefully telling me to resign. Not even giving notice period so that we can have at least some time to apply for new jobs without being jobless," he expressed. He also noted similar instances of layoffs in other well-known companies.

Speaking on behalf of others in similar situations, he wrote, “When we never thought to leave the current job but next day suddenly HR person schedules a meeting to announce the exit and force to leave the company. How much bad it is but who care. I thought to say here because it is something that should not happen. Like this event can destroy someone’s career but who care."

Following its circulation, the post gained traction on LinkedIn.

While some offered guidance and legal recourse against the company, others doubted its authenticity, perceiving it as a ploy for attention. “Surely this is an incomplete story. And by this post, you are letting people’s imagination go wild on the possibilities. And it will only hurt your chances of getting a new job, isn’t it? Instead of such posts, if I may humbly suggest, please consider building a strong leetcode, github profile. You would land with a job for sure if you have these in order," one commenter advised.

As discussions extended to ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), similar skepticism emerged. “This guy must have done something which is not as per policy. They might have caught him and asked to resign without serving the notice period duration," speculated one individual. Another dismissed such grievances as attention-seeking behaviour typical of certain demographics: “Most these gen Z are crying babies and do such posts to grab attention and views."

Meanwhile, News18 could not verify the authenticity of the claim. Also, Infosys has  not issued any statement regarding the matter.
