History To Bungalow Prices, All About Lutyens' Delhi
The British shifted the capital from Kolkata to Delhi in 1911. To build the area for the high-ranking British officials, Sir Edwin Lutyens was chosen as the chief architect.

Lutyens’ Delhi is where the nation’s wealthiest people reside. Spanning approx 230 acres, the Lutyens’ Delhi, includes prominent areas like Golf Link, Malcha Marg and Prithviraj Road, among others. It was established during the British era to accommodate India’s most influential figures. Sunil Mittal of Airtel, the Burman family of Dabur Group and steel industrialist Lakshmi Mittal are some of the few names who reside in this posh area.

Adding to its prestige and allure, the current and former Prime Ministers of India live in this area. The property prices are mentioned on the website of Lutyens’ Delhi. It was originally built for British officials and Indians were barred from entering these areas.

The British government shifted the capital of India from Kolkata to Delhi in 1911. To build the area for the high-ranking British officials, Sir Edwin Lutyens was chosen as the chief architect. He led a team of architects and built the Viceroy House in the heart of the city, which we know today as Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The All India War Memorial was also built here. The road from the war memorial to the Viceroy House was named Kingsway. Now the War Memorial is known as India Gate and Kings Way came to be known as Rajpath and then Kartavya Path. Places like Connaught Place, Janpath, the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Museum, etc. come into this area. The entire area was named Lutyens’ Delhi after Sir Lutyens. It is here that the bungalows of MPs, Lok Sabha Speaker, Vice President, heads of other important government offices, and ministers also reside. The construction was completed in 1931.

Recently, a 10 BHK bungalow was sold on Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone, Kasturba Gandhi Marg. It was located on KG Marg, Vakil Lane, Mandi House. The price of this bungalow was fixed at Rs 110 crore. Apart from this, a 12-room house was sold on Ferozshah Road. It was priced at Rs 500 crore. The Lutyens’ Delhi is surrounded by key landmarks such as the IGI airport, historic buildings and exclusive clubs which further play a role in the high prices of the bungalows in this area.
