Jamui District Transport Office Issues Challan Of Rs 17,500 For Vehicle Seized By Police
The police arrested the transport owner and seized them based on evidence against him.

Jamui district in Bihar is currently dominating the headlines because the District Transport Office, located here has issued a challan of Rs 17,500 in the name of a vehicle owner (name not known). According to Local 18 Bihar, this vehicle on which the challan is issued has been seized in the Barahat Police Station for the last five months. Now, the question that is being asked in the public domain is how the District Transport Office can issue a challan for the vehicle seized by the police. The challan has been imposed on the vehicle owner for driving without a license and pollution certificate and disobeying police orders. Other reasons that have been cited are arguments with the investigating officer and the failure of the insurance policy. Another question that has sparked discussion is whether the DTO issued the challan without confirming the authenticity of the vehicle or not. The third and final question that is left unanswered is whether the police have used the seized vehicle and violated the traffic rules or not.

The above-mentioned vehicle belongs to a person hailing from the Lakra village of the Barahat subdivision of Banka district in Bihar. The police arrested the transport owner and seized them based on evidence against him. The owner was granted bail by the court after three months, but the police have not yet returned the vehicle to him. The transport owner, after his release, received a challan message on the phone.

Jamui Sub-Divisional Police Officer Satish Suman said that as far as the use of the seized vehicle by the police is concerned, it is impossible. He said that when the challan was issued, the car was parked on the police station premises and they also had its CCTV footage. He added that only the District Transport Office can reveal the reason behind issuing the fine on this vehicle. Jamui District Transport Officer, Irfan Alam, justified the challan on the transport. Irfan said that whenever a car is seized, the owner applies to the court for its release. It was followed by the court asking for information about all types of charges on the vehicle and then the challan was issued.
