Japanese Tourist Reveals How India Changed Her Outlook On Life: 'I Could Find Myself'
A Japanese tourist said her journey to India had a positive impact, as she found herself expressing emotions like joy, sadness and even frustration more openly.

Travelling is often about discovering new cultures and meeting new people, but it can also reveal surprising truths about ourselves. Tapi, a Japanese tourist who recently explored India, shared her experience of self-discovery on Instagram. Although she initially described India as a chaotic country, she was surprised to find that many stereotypes she had before were not accurate. In her video, Tapi spoke about how her journey had a positive impact on her, as she found herself expressing emotions like joy, sadness and even frustration more openly than before. In her video, the traveller highlighted how stepping out of our comfort zones can lead to surprising personal growth.

Tapi said, “In India, I could find myself. India is one of the most chaotic countries, my common sense didn’t apply and my stereotypes are shattered. I stayed with an Indian, who is rich in emotions, I realised that I was expressing my feelings more openly than when I was in Japan. In addition to joy and sorrows, I even expressed the anger I’d been hiding. BTW, I could meet a new ‘Me’ and I realized that as I grew older, I got better at hiding my feelings because I was scared of what others think.”

“Expressing myself is scary but it’s important because all we have to do in our life is to keep exploring my inner and outer world and get closer to ‘ME’ over time. As a result, my outlook on life hasn’t changed, for better or worse, India was naked in my heart and I discovered a new side of myself. India gives me the perfect spice, I think you also feel something in India,” the Japanese traveller added.

Reacting to the sweet video, a user wrote, “I went to India for the first time in February. I read a lot of books and stuff but it was fun with all the imaginary stuff. Values have changed, or it’s easier to live like a human and like yourself.”

Another shared, “India is the most underrated country in Asia. There are so many talents but underutilised on their own.”

“It was a great perspective without glorifying for the sake of it but speaking from the heart,” a comment read.

Another wrote, “This country has many challenges, but it is also home to some wonderful people, amazing food and beautiful places to visit.”

An individual shared, “You are amazing, just and brave.”

One more added, “India is fun, Indian music is good too.”

Since Tapi shared her inspiring travel journey on Instagram, it has garnered over 2 lakh views.
