Torrential rains in Delhi and its surrounding areas have significantly impacted daily life, causing rising water levels that have led to extensive waterlogging, inundated homes and severe traffic disruptions. Social media has been flooded with videos and photos illustrating the aftermath where people are struggling to navigate through the submerged streets. A particular striking image that has been circulating online shows a group of journalists at the Press Club of India casually lounging amidst the knee-deep water.

The photo was shared on X by Hemant Rajaura, a journalist with Hindustan newspaper. It captures an unusual scene at the Press Club of India, located in the heart of Lutyens Delhi where Parliament House and other ministries are situated. Despite the club submerged under knee-deep water, a few journalists are seen making the most of the situation, lounging and enjoying snacks and drinks. In the background, a few others can be seen navigating through the waterlogged area with their trousers rolled up.

The caption read, “This is the scene of The press club of India in Delhi 5.”

Earlier, Press Club of India had urged its members to stay home and avoid the flooded area due to the heavy rains. “Due to incessant rains in Delhi, we request our members to stay at home and stay safe. There is heavy water-logging in and around the Press Club of India. #DelhiRains,” it wrote on X.
