Apart from serving lip-smacking snacks, the way a street food vendor interacts and shares his or her stories draws us towards them. And one such person is a 75-year-old woman selling delicious bread pakoras on the streets of Surat, Gujarat.
Shared across social media platforms, a video shows the woman skillfully preparing the snack and serving it hot and crisp. Amar Sirohi, a food vlogger, recently came across the hardworking food vendor and documented a day in the life of the lady.
In the video, the vlogger shared details about her dish, mentioned the bread pakoras were very popular in Surat and added that her stall was always crowded with customers.
Instead of the typical besan (gram flour), she uses spring roll sheets to coat her bread pakoras and fries them in cottonseed oil for a healthy alternative. Besides, the bread pakoras are stuffed with cheese and a lot of veggies. Before the final serving, she cuts the pakoras into small pieces and sprinkles chaat masala on them. A plate of bread pakoras comes at a cost of Rs 30. The video has won hearts on the internet, with many hailing the lady for her hard work and determination to continue working at this age.
One wrote, “Something unique and looking tasty,” while another commented, “The elders of Gujarat are slowly inspiring the world.” One of the comments read, “You can tell she loves what she does.”
Some also shared their experiences after personally having food from her stall. The video has already racked in over 25 million views on Instagram. Well, this is not the only video that has inspired the internet.
Earlier, a 78-year-old elderly man grabbed everyone’s attention with his high spirits to work. A video of the elderly Sikh shows him selling lemon soda on the streets of Amritsar, Punjab, something that he has been doing for the past 25 years.
He also explained that despite his ill health, poor eyesight, and hearing problems, he has to pull the soda cart for the whole day to earn money and buy food.
