'Men Just Want to Split Bills': Viral Post Glorifying Emperors' 'Rich' Gestures Disapproved Online
Viral post calling out men of today for 'splitting bills' and comparing them with emperors' expensive gestures receives a thumbs down online.

From our early years, we’ve all been familiar with the narrative surrounding the iconic Taj Mahal, built by Shah Jahan as a tomb for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Widely acknowledged as the epitome of love and affection, this singular storyline has long been a source of controversy. Recently, a woman on social media ignited a heated debate by comparing contemporary men to those of the past who dedicated monumental structures, like the Taj Mahal, to their loved ones. The post failed to resonate well with online users for more than one reason.

To begin with, the image shared by @sa6vie, accompanied by the caption “Men used to build these for women, and now they want to split bills,” was actually of Bibi ka Maqbara, often mistaken for the Taj Mahal due to its striking resemblance.

Even though the OP clarified later that it wasn’t the Taj Mahal, the online community couldn’t let go of the comparison, raising questions about the financial ‘contribution’ of men in their partners’ lives.

One user rebuked, “This ain’t taj mahal, it’s bibi ka makbara. a son built this for his mother, and sons today do the same, both for their mothers and partners. shut up.” Another added, “Women used to fight for their own man’s pride and for the kingdom and Now they just cry if asked pay for their own food.”

A third user wrote, “No one splits the bills with their wives. Biwi ke lie banwaaya usne, bandi ke lie nahi. Know the difference.”

“Mumtaz had to deliver 14 children. She lost her life while delivering 14th. If given an option, she would have chosen to split the bill!!” came the fourth response.
