On Camera, Kidnapped Child Refuses To Leave Abductor In UP's Aligarh
The 33-year-old Chahar, a former head constable in the Reserve Police Lines in Aligarh and a resident of Agra, had evaded capture for over a year.

A two-year-old child, who was kidnapped over a year ago, grew so close to his abductor that they were seen crying when the Jaipur Police rescued the toddler. On August 27, the police rescued Prithvi from Tanuj Chahar in Aligarh after a prolonged investigation.

However, before Chahar handed over the kid, they looked inseparable. In the video, the child is seen and heard crying as officers forcibly separated them, eventually returning the sobbing kid to his mother, who was waiting outside with her family. Interestingly, even the kidnapper was seen wiping off his tears when the child was taken away from him.

The 33-year-old Chahar, a former head constable in the Reserve Police Lines in Aligarh and a resident of Agra, evaded the police for over a year. Suspended from his police duties, Chahar used his knowledge of law enforcement procedures to avoid detection.

He lived with Prithvi in a hut near the Yamuna River, frequently changing his appearance and avoiding mobile phones. He even grew a long beard and posed as an ascetic recluse to disguise his identity.

Chahar kidnapped Prithvi after asking his mother, Poonam Chaudhary, whom he had known before, to leave her home with him. When she refused, Chahar allegedly kidnapped her child in an attempt to force them to flee together.

As per an earlier News18 report, the kidnapper went to Jaipur searching for the woman he loved, but she was married off to someone else.

After a year, he found her and lived with her in Jaipur, but both were already married to other people, leading to objections from their families and eventually to their breakup.

During this period, the woman had a child, which led to Chahar’s decision to kidnap the baby. Chahar then started claiming that the child was his, and after failing to persuade the mother to join him in UP, he made a desperate attempt to reunite with her by kidnapping the child, hoping she would return for the child’s sake.

Jaipur Police ASP Poonamchand Vishnoi told the publication that while Chahar was on the run, he was under surveillance and had been communicating with the child’s mother.

However, he managed to avoid detection by frequently changing his phone and location, even taunting the police by claiming they would never catch him.

Currently, in police custody, Chahar continues to claim the child as his own and demands her return.

Meanwhile, Prithvi’s mother has expressed a clear desire to sever all ties with the accused.

The police operation, carried out by a special team, reportedly tracked Chahar across multiple locations, including Mathura, Agra and Vrindavan.
