The Noida police has filed a complaint against him under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 336 (endangering life or personal safety), and 504 (intentional insult).

A 25-year-old Delhi resident was detained on Friday after it was reported that he drove his SUV recklessly on a local street, putting pedestrians’ safety at risk. Prince Mavi has been fined Rs 35,000 for breaking traffic laws and has been charged with the offence. An earlier video that became popular on X (formerly Twitter) captured the unpredictable driving of a black Mahindra Thar close to Amity University in Noida. The driver was seen skidding and suddenly applying the brakes, endangering the safety of everyone else on the road. The vehicle had tinted glasses with the word “Gurjar” inscribed on them.

The Times of India was informed by police that Mavi had received challans for many infractions under the Motor Vehicles Act and that the vehicle had been confiscated. These infractions include driving recklessly, using tinted glasses, having a faulty licence plate with casteist allusions and exceeding the allowed limits for air pollution. The officer further informed the publication that an inquiry was started and a formal complaint was filed at the Sector-126 police station in the vicinity, following which the car’s driver was taken into custody.

The Noida police has filed a complaint against him under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 336 (endangering life or personal safety), and 504 (intentional insult), reports Free Press Journal.

Meanwhile, a seven-second video that went viral depicts a woman walking along the road and nearly getting hit by the car. In an instant, she moves out of the way of the rapidly approaching vehicle. The same video shows numerous individuals quickly fleeing the automobile when they realise it is headed straight for them.

Another report by TOI claims that Noida traffic police tracked down the owner of the car by looking up the registration number plate after the video had gone viral. According to the SHO, the video was first uploaded on Instagram on March 1 and was over three months old, based on the initial investigation.

After that, the video was downloaded and uploaded on X, where it immediately went viral. Soon, people urged action against the perpetrator in the comments section, tagging the UP police department and other relevant law enforcement entities.
