‘They Wanted Someone To Sweep The Floor’: This 2012 School Dance Video Will Make You ROFL

A video of a school dance from more than a decade ago has captivated the interest of social media users, thanks to the odd song choice and young boys’ enthusiastic dance steps. The video, which was shot at a school function on November 30, 2012, shows a group of girls dancing on Vengaboys 1998 hit song, “Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom”. They are then joined by a boy who does enthusiastic stunts like dance steps such as head stands and rolling on the stage as he does ‘the worm’ dance move. This video was posted on Instagram by dancer Pranav Hegde. While posting this clip, Hedge wrote, “Core Memory. Be nice in the comments guys pls.”

In the comments many people were entertained and endeared by Hegde’s school dance. One of the most popular comments on this post read, “They wanted someone to sweep the floor.” Another joked, “If I was his friend I’d play this video on a large screen on his wedding day.”

People also wondered how the school allowed the kids to sing on “Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom” as its lyrics were inappropriate for minors even as the song was very upbeat. “The most important question is…why would they choose a song like this for a ‘school function,” an Instagram user observed.

Prainsing the dance, an Instagram user wrote, “everything from the costumes to the song choice and the way you just slept there before making the most chaotic dance move ever is just pure masterpiece.” Another commented, “Look at the date it was done almost 12 years back still that child managed to do these kinds of steps so please appreciate that way people only have to make fun or say negative everytime.”

This is not the only dance video that has gone viral recently. In September 2023, a video of a schoolboy dancing to the popular Nepali song ‘Badal Barsa Bijuli’ during a school function went viral.

In the video, the boy’s schoolmates and teachers cheer him loudly. As per the poster, put on the stage it appears that the video was taken during the Teachers’ Day celebrations at West Bengal’s St Xavier’s School in Malda. So far, this video has over 61 lakh likes. Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “W kid W crowd W teachers.” The W refers to ‘Winner’. Another said, “Finally I am seeing the best version of badal barsa. The baby boy is so happy in this video and the school teacher, including his friends encouraging him is so nice.”
