This Kolkata Family Came To The Rescue When Puchka Vendor Ran Out Of Dhaniya
A chef, who is originally a resident of Kolkata, shared her experience at a phuchka vendor’s stall. She narrated how her family helped the vendor to bring back the essence in his dish.

We all love street food and take out time to indulge in these delicacies. Among other dishes, phuchka, also known as pani puri or gol gappa, is one of the most popular on the street food list. The crispy puris filled with spicy and tangy fillings are hard to resist. Often, a tad bit of lemon and coriander leaves are added to the filling to elevate it even further, and most people like it this way. Recently, a chef – who is originally a resident of Kolkata – shared her experience at a phuchka vendor’s stall. She narrated how her family helped her vendor bring back the essence of his dish.

A London based chef, Sohini, shared a clip on her Instagram handle that featured her family relishing on phuchkas. In the video, a man is seen running towards the vendor and handing over a box of coriander leaves to his family, who were waiting at the stall. He was also seen yelling at them for a moment. The customers then give the vendor the coriander, and the vendor goes on to make the filling with it. At last, the man is seen patting the vendor’s back as well. The caption gives more insight into the incident. It mentioned, “YES, WE GAVE HIM OUR CORIANDER. I’m back to base and back to the phuchka. Winters are all about coriander, and he didn’t have any today so my maa and kakima kinda lost it. Rescued by my babia who brought the tupperware from home. Chaotic scenes all around. But great phuchka.”

Since being shared, netizens have shared a slew of reactions on the post. One user stated, “This is the chaos I need to heal me!” Another exclaimed, “It’s so cute and funny at the same time.’

Many were touched at the gesture of the old man who brought the box. One said, “The way the uncle is scolding the man and he is smiling and then the uncle’s hand on the man’s shoulder is the proof of humanity,” while another person expressed, “Being born and brought up in Bengal..i can confirm that anger was his way of showing him love and care.”

Some also noticed how happy the vendor was. “His smile at the end,” pointed one user. An individual was also concerned about hygiene standards and stated, “Isko gloves bhi do…gande hato se bana rah hai.”
