We all have seen some pretty strange food trends by now. Our social media feeds are packed with bizarre twists on our beloved food staples, so at this point it’s no shocker anymore, it is like expecting traffic jams during rush hour. But a recent video has really left people scratching their heads. In West Delhi, a vendor has decided to fry something unexpected – roses. Those lovely flowers we usually give for their beauty and fragrance are now sizzling in frying pans. Dubbed as ‘Fried Roses,’ this dish has turned the symbol of love into an unusual snack.
In a viral video, shared on Instagram by user Anurag, a vendor from West Delhi is seen whipping up a batter, ready for an unexpected treat. Once the batter is prepared, he dips a bunch of red roses into it, ensuring every petal is coated. The battered roses are then dropped into a sizzling frying pan until crispy. Voila! Fried Roses are ready. The overlay text humourously reads, “Fried Roses: When your lover is from West Delhi.”
The caption accompanying the video reads, “Red Roses with hari chutney.”
As expected, the video of Fried Roses took the internet by storm, racking up more than 1 million views. The comment section is filled with social media users’ stunned and hilarious reactions.
One user, in a poetic way, lamented, “Sky is blue, roses are fried, pakode ki le li, I cried,’ while another outraged user commented, “Offended on behalf of the roses. I’m so angry at this, so mad.”
Someone else humourously suggested, “Proposal reject hua to, gulab ke pakode tal liye (If proposal gets rejected, make roses fritters instead).”
“Samosa samaj sadme mein hai yeh dekhne ke baad (Samosa community is in shock after seeing this),” a person quipped.
“Deep fried romance with a side of flower fries,” another hilarious comment read.
Amid the laughter, a viewer expressed, “God, we are frying everything. We are gonna turn into Americans soon.”
Comments like, “Absurd reality!” “I want to unsee it” and “Seriously what is wrong” flooded in, alongside a plea, “The roses want justice!”
Meanwhile, one user asked, “Do they do this for views or seriously Delhi has a problem? Honest question.”
Forget bouquets, roses are now straight headed for the dinner plate. Would you dare to try it?
