Why This US Library Demands Pictures Of Pets When Customers Return Torn Books
This library has witnessed patrons coming with torn books, damaged by their furry pets.

A library is one of the places in a school or city, which is peaceful. You can delve deep into the world of knowledge and stories or simply study here without disturbance. There are a few strict rules which need to be adhered to, like maintaining silence in the library, returning an issued book within a time limit and paying a fine. The Middleton Public Library has a bizarre rule, which will make you smile ear-to-ear. Generally, if any issued book from a library gets damaged, one must pay a fine. In Wisconsin’s Middleton Public Library, the USA, you will not have to shell out a penny if your library book gets torn or damaged. Instead, you only have to show a cute picture of your fur baby. But what’s the reason? This American library has witnessed patrons coming with tattered or torn books, which were damaged by their furry pets at home. The library recognised that its book may look delicious to the pets and hence has levied a fee where the culprit’s photo has to be shown instead of paying a fine. It took to social media to announce the same.

On Facebook, the Middleton Public Library posted a few snaps, one with an adorable dog and books. The post read, “We understand that library materials can look delicious to pets and young children, so the Middleton Public Library has unveiled a new policy for fatally chomped materials: in lieu of payment for the item, we would like to offer you the option of submitting a photo of the beloved culprit.” It further introduced the dog (the culprit) and wrote, “Today’s defendant is Ward, who lives with Jean. Ward is a Goldendoodle who is looking for ‘strong vibes and a calm mind,’ but he finds yoga a bit frustrating. No problem, Ward! We have plenty of relevant books on display this May for Mental Health Awareness Month. You’re sure to find something that works for you!”

As per reports, till now there have been four culprits and readers have already taken advantage of this fine-levying system. The first chomper was a dog named Daisy, who has been accused of tearing a book titled, The Guest. Then dogs like Quik, an American water spaniel and Sky, an Australian labradoodle’s photos were shared by the pet parents.
