While most people would agree that the internet has improved people’s lives, especially in the digital age, the web also has a dark side to it. The rise of social media usage and the ease of online platforms allow anyone to just whip out a phone or camera, take a quick snap and post it online. Such instances also lead to the rise of some creepy online stalkers, which can be both unsafe and uncomfortable for many. One such incident recently became a point of discussion on Reddit after a user claimed to have witnessed something similar on Delhi Metro.
Taking to the platform, the user recalled a woman who recorded the video of a foreigner without his permission. He mentioned that he was on the Yellow line metro, when he saw the woman inside the coach “checking out someone”. Curious about it, he decided to check for himself and found a “very handsome foreigner guy” who looked like a “stereotypical Pinterest” type, with his overall look on point.

The user, who found the act very “creepy,” went on to add, “Now, there’s nothing wrong with checking out or admiring someone. But she literally took out her phone and recorded him. Zoomed on him. And saved the video on her phone. Now, that is where I draw the line. So yeah, that was really creepy of her. Plus, it’s not like the girl was looking creepy or something. She looked like a very decent girl. So, nowadays it’s really hard to tell who’s creepy.”
Many social media users resonated with the post, with some calling out such people in public. A user wrote, “Creepiness is beyond gender; let’s not generalize that,” while another commented, “But that’s where they draw the line, then proceeded to do absolutely nothing about the situation.”
“This type of behavior is really bad, bruh. It is not legally wrong, but anyone should not do this. Sometimes I feel like someone is recording (50% of the time they are ) and I cannot do anything about it,” one commented.
A user pointed out, “If there was a guy recording a girl like this. Then no one will say it’s creepy…. we have to save our society and teach the girls to respect guys. disappointed.”
In view of the incident, it might seem like a harmless act but sparks a vital conversation about personal boundaries and consent.
