World's Tallest Man And Shortest Woman Had This Much Fun In California

Sultan Kösen and Jyoti Amge, two individuals who hold extreme positions in the spectrum of human height, recently met in California for breakfast, marking a unique reunion between the tallest living man and the shortest living woman, as recognised by the Guinness World Records. The pair’s visit to the United States was reportedly organised by an unnamed American producer, who also planned to record their meeting.

Sultan Kösen, a 41-year-old part-time farmer from Turkey, stands at an incredible height of 8 feet, 2.8 inches, making him the tallest living man on Earth. Kösen’s remarkable stature is a result of acromegaly, a condition caused by a tumour in the pituitary gland that leads to an excess of growth hormone, ultimately resulting in gigantism. Despite his towering height, Kösen has faced challenges in his life, including being told he was too tall to play basketball and being unable to attend school due to his condition. However, his life took a positive turn when he was officially recognised as the world’s tallest man in 2009, leading to various opportunities and experiences, including free life-saving surgery to halt his continuous growth.

Kösen, is known for his ability to reach a basketball hoop without jumping, has visited 127 countries and now serves as a cultural ambassador for Turkey.

On the other end of the height spectrum is Jyoti Amge, a 30-year-old woman from Nagpur, India, who stands at just 62.8 centimetres tall. Amge’s height is attributed to achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism. Despite her small stature, Amge has travelled to numerous countries and has been featured in various television shows, including a guest appearance on the reality TV show Big Boss and a role in the fourth season of American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Kösen and Amge last met in 2018 for a photo shoot in Egypt. The photos, released by Turkey’s Anadolu news agency, depict Amge standing beside Kösen’s shoe, barely reaching his shoulder even as he is seated, highlighting the extreme difference in their heights.
