Ex-Prez Trump Worried US Supreme Court May Rule Against Him in Maine, Colorado Cases
Donald Trump told his attorney Alina Habba that Trump remains concerned that despite him electing three judges to the US Supreme Court they may not rule in his favour.

Former US president Donald Trump’s attorney Alina Habba on Wednesday told US-based news outlets that Trump is concerned that the US Supreme Court may rule against him in regard to recent decisions in Colorado and Maine that barred from the states’ 2024 primary ballots.

Habba, during an interview on Fox News, said that Trump voiced his concerns to her. “That’s a concern he’s voiced to me, he’s voiced to everybody publicly, not privately. And I can tell you that his concern is a valid one,” Habba said, responding to comments made by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman’s recent comments.

“You know, Republicans are conservative, they get nervous. They unfortunately … sometimes shy away from being pro-Trump because they feel that even if the law is on our side, they are swayed much like the Democratic side, right? So they’re trying so hard to look neutral that sometimes, they make the wrong call,” she told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum.

Trump has appealed Colorado’s ruling to the US Supreme Court a day after he appealed Maine’s decision. Both state removed Trump from their 2024 state primary ballots last month citing an insurrection clause from the 14th Amendment of US Constitution.

The Supreme Court of the US has a 6-3 conservative majority.

Haberman last week cited concerns that the three of the justices on the nation’s highest bench were appointed by Trump. Haberman told news outlet CNN that Trump and his advisers ‘generally believe’ that they will succeed in the Supreme Court but the former president is concerned that the judges will try to look as if they are not trying to rule in his favour.

Trump attorney Habba encouraged the justices to look at the law in the Constitution. “It’s just a simple decision, and it should have nothing to do with if you’re Republican or Democrat,” Habba said.

Legal experts across the United States have given varied predictions for how the US apex court will rule if it decides to hear the case.
