A delegation led by a top aide to the US President Barack Obama would attend the canonization ceremony of Mother Teresa in Vatican City, the White House said on Saturday.

Washington: A delegation led by a top aide to the US President Barack Obama would attend the canonization ceremony of Mother Teresa in Vatican City, the White House said on Saturday.

As per the White House statement, the five member American delegation, led by Lisa Monaco, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counter-terrorism, would attend the ceremony on Sunday.

Other members of the delegation include Kenneth Hackett, US Ambassador to the Holy See; Suzy George, Deputy Assistant to the President and Executive Secretary and Chief of Staff, National Security Council; Sister Donna J Markham OP, president and CEO, Catholic Charities USA and Carolyn Y. Woo, president and CEO, Catholic Relief Services.

Congressman Tim Huelskamp said the saintly work of Mother Teresa is inspirational.

"Mother Teresa demanded we give every child a chance to be born. Her saintly work is inspirational," he said in a tweet yesterday.
