World Cup winner and former India coach, Ravi Shastri has predicted that India will win the World Cup 2023 finals where they go up against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Sunday.

He spoke to media outlets, saying,” They (India) will start as favourites in the final.”
The Men in Blue managed to make their way into the finals where they defeated New Zealand by 70 runs to secure their spot in the big finale.

In response to a question regarding what India needs to do to get their hands on the trophy, Shastri responded,” I think just being composed and calm and handling and soaking the pressure because you don’t want to be overexcitable just because it’s a final.”
Shastri also praised the Indian Team’s performance in the tournament so far. He added,” This team does not depend on one or two players. There have been 8-9 players performing game after game. So that is a brilliant sign.”

Several Indian players have made major contributions to India’s run to the finals. The trio of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer are amongst the top 10 run-scorers in the tournament. With the ball, you have Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja who are among the top 10 highest wicket-takers in the tournament.
Their performance in the semi-finals looked to go down the wire but thanks to centuries from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer followed by a record seven-wicket haul by Mohammed Shami, India was able to get the victory to see themselves through to the finals.

Their opponents Australia managed to find their way into the finals with a dominant start with the ball but David Miller’s century knocked them back. But thanks to Travis Head’s all-round performance where he took two big wickets along with a crucial half-century where he went after the bowlers, Australia managed to make their way to a record-extending eighth World Cup finals.
