Hyundai Alcazar – this is what the upcoming SUV from Hyundai Motor India will be called as. Hyundai has officially confirmed the name of the SUV and the car will be making its world debut soon. The Hyundai Alcazar will be based on the Hyundai Creta and will use the same platform, stretched to accommodate the bigger Alcazar SUV, and will be the 7-seater premium SUV from Hyundai. Hyundai Alcazar will make its global debut in India.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr S S Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said, “The year 2021 will add a new chapter in HMIL history, as we gear-up to enter and redefine a new segment. Hyundai ALCAZAR will supersede the aspirations of new age buyers and redefine existing benchmarks to ensure customer delight. As Hyundai completes 25 years in the country, we will re-emphasize our commitment to Indian customers with the Global Debut of Hyundai ALCAZAR that is ‘Made in India’ and ‘Made First for India’."
Recently, Hyundai Motor India had announced that it has sold over 9 million cars since its inception 25 years ago. Accordingly, 2021 marks 25 years of the company’s presence in India. On May 6, 1996, HMIL officials laid the foundation of Hyundai Motor India’s manufacturing facility at Irungattukkottai in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
In CY2020, the company achieved its highest ever market share of 17.4 per cent. Besides, Hyundai has surpassed the 3 million vehicle export milestone in 2020. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC). At present, it offers 11 car models across segments.
